IRATA is the global benchmark for industrial rope access. Our courses run over a minimum of four days of training plus one day of independent assessment, and qualifications are valid for three years.

Choose your level
Level 1 — New to the ropes
Perfect for anyone new to the industry, or those wishing to revalidate an existing Level 1 qualification. You must be 18 years of age.
Level 2 — Step it up
Ideal for Level 1 technicians wanting to upgrade, or Level 2 personnel who wish to revalidate. You'll need 1,000 recorded rope access hours in your logbook, and at least one year must have passed since achieving your Level 1 IRATA qualification.
Level 3 — Take charge
Designed for Level 2 technicians wanting to scale up, or existing Level 3 ticket holders who wish to revalidate. You'll need a further 1,000 logged hours, at least one year since achieving your Level 2 IRATA qualification, and a current First Aid certificate.

What is IRATA rope access training?
IRATA rope access training teaches you to work safely at height using a twin-rope system — hanging in a harness from two ropes instead of using scaffolding, cranes or a cherry picker. IRATA (the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) is the world's leading authority on industrial rope access, and its qualification is the global benchmark for working at height.
What IRATA courses does AZM Solutions offer?
AZM Solutions offers all three IRATA levels — Technician Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 — plus revalidation and refresher training. All courses are delivered to IRATA International standards at our purpose-built facility in Marrickville, Sydney.
Where are you located?
Our training centre is at 51 Shepherd St, Marrickville NSW 2204 — in the heart of Marrickville, with easy access to public transport. It's just 7km from the Sydney CBD and around 15–20 minutes by train from Central Station. Marrickville is also regarded as one of Sydney's best food destinations, with plenty of local eateries, breweries and lively pubs.
How long does an IRATA course take?
Every IRATA course runs over a minimum of four days of training followed by one day of independent assessment — five days in total. The assessment is carried out by an accredited IRATA International Assessor.
Do I need experience to start rope access training?
No experience is needed to start. IRATA Level 1 is designed for people new to the industry — you just need to be at least 18 years old, physically fit to work safely at height, and have the right attitude toward safety. Higher levels require logged hours and prior certification.
What are the entry requirements for IRATA Level 1?
To enrol in IRATA Level 1 you must be at least 18 years of age and physically fit to work safely at height. You'll complete a medical self-certification on your first day. No prior rope access experience or qualification is required.
How do I upgrade from IRATA Level 1 to Level 2?
To upgrade to Level 2 you need a minimum of 1,000 recorded rope access hours in your IRATA logbook and at least 12 months since achieving your Level 1 qualification. Your certificate must be valid on the day of assessment.
What are the requirements for IRATA Level 3?
IRATA Level 3 is for Level 2 technicians ready to take charge. You need a further 1,000 recorded rope access hours in your logbook and at least 12 months since achieving Level 2. To work as a Level 3 you need a current first aid certificate. Existing Level 3 holders can also use the course to revalidate.
How long is an IRATA qualification valid?
An IRATA qualification is valid for three (3) years from the date of successful assessment. To stay certified, you must revalidate before it expires, which AZM Solutions offers through revalidation and refresher courses.
What jobs can I get with an IRATA qualification?
An IRATA qualification opens work across many sectors, including construction, oil and gas, power and petrochemical, mining and geotechnical, confined spaces, wind and renewable energy, and commercial building maintenance — anywhere skilled access at height is needed.
Is rope access training safe?
Yes. Rope access has a safety record unmatched in the access industry, and AZM Solutions runs every course to the IRATA International standard with a zero-harm mindset. Safety is treated as non-negotiable — the guiding principle is that no job is worth an injury and every injury is preventable.
What happens if I don't pass the assessment?
Not everyone passes — the assessment is independent and uncompromising, which is what makes the qualification an achievement. If you need more training, AZM Solutions provides it and arranges re-assessment at a later date. Re-assessment costs $300.
How much does an IRATA course cost?
